Hurricanes History

The Hamilton Hurricanes were started in 2001 by Brian Weller and John Paul as a response to the need for a place that the girls of the area could play after they finished playing Midget ball. At the time there were many teams and organizations supporting girls playing softball up to Midget age but no place existed in the Hamilton/Niagara where softball was available for girls of Junior age to play (without having to travel outside the region to Toronto, Kitchener or further).

In the first 2 years the team worked to establish its self as a competitive Junior Tier I team and by 2003 had improved to the point where we were one of the teams representing Ontario at the Canadian Championships
