7. POSTPONEMENT OF GAMES FOR REASONS OTHER THAN RAIN OR FAMILY TRAGEDY REQUIRES MUTUAL CONSENT FROM BOTH TEAMS.

[A] NOTIFICATION OF CANCELLATION MUST BE MADE BY EITHER TEAM AT LEAST 5 DAYS BEFORE THE GAME IN QUESTION OR THE TEAM THAT CANCELLED WILL BE PAYING THE HOME TEAM’S EXPENSES. THE EARLY CANCELLATION ALSO ALLOWS TEAMS TO SCHEDULE OTHER GAMES.

[B] TO RESCHEDULE FOLLOW RULE 6B.

[C] FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN A $50.00 FINE PAID BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS AND COVERAGE OF COSTS OR EVICTION FROM THE PLAYOFFS.

[D] SEE APPENDIX TWO FOR RESCHEDULING DEADLINE.

8. GAME DURATION:

[A] ALL LEAGUE GAMES CONSIST OF SEVEN INNINGS. A TEN RUN MERCY RULE IS IN EFFECT AFTER FIVE INNINGS THROUGHOUT THE REGULAR SEASON AND THE PLAYOFFS.

[B] IN THE EVENT OF A TIE AFTER SEVEN COMPLETE INNINGS, THE OFFICIAL SOFTBALL CANADA TIE –BREAKER RULE WILL GO INTO EFFECT [EACH TEAM HAS A RUNNER (THE LAST OUT OF THE PREVIOUS INNING) ON SECOND BASE AT THE START OF THEIR AT BAT].

[C] PROVISION FOR TEAMS WITH CURFEWS ON DIAMONDS – A TIE CAN STAND RESULTING IN 1 POINT FOR EACH TEAM. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEAM WITH THE CURFEW TO LET THE VISITING TEAM KNOW ABOUT THE CURFEW AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME.
